Book Reviews

There's a lot of personal finance writing that just repeats the same five ideas with a new cover. This is where we cover the ones actually worth your time, and why.

How we review

We read the whole book, not just the summary, and judge it on whether the ideas actually held up when we tried applying them, not just whether it was an enjoyable read. If a book's advice doesn't fit an Australian context (tax, super, HECS), we say so directly rather than leaving readers to find out the hard way.

What we cover

Behavioral finance and money psychology, practical investing guides, and FIRE memoirs and playbooks make up most of what lands on the list: books that change how you think about money, not just ones that repeat generic advice you've already heard.

How this pays for itself

Book links across Snowball Invest are affiliate links, so if you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only recommend books we'd genuinely suggest to a friend, independent of whether they're linked.

The shelf
